points! points! points!

i've been mulling over bloggames to play this time. too many choices, too little time. so in true setting-out-to-fail tradition, i've decided to run 3 competitions simultaneously - something for everyone! or possibly something for no-one - but let's see how it goes.

competition 1 keyword picture bonanza - yes, it's the long-awaited return of keypicanza! for those who haven't had the pleasure of playing this before, the rules are as follows: on each blog post, you'll find a collection of keywords: your task is to find or create an image that represents one or more keywords, and provide a link to it. points will be awarded completely arbitrarily based on qualities such as showy-offness, with extra special points this time for entries that are judged to have a certain tony hart inspired element of creativity. i'm sure he'd approve of this fitting tribute.

competition 2 uxbridge english dictionary. inspired by listening to 'i'm sorry i haven't a clue' on the way over, here's a slight twist on the portmanteau game. feel free to pick any words from any posts on this blog and provide alternative meanings for them (eg, to give an example from the show itself: warming = an ancient vase belonging to a geordie; or, cocoa bean = an ex-clown). again, points will be awarded completely arbitrarily.

competition 3 trivial trivia. this inaugural competition (btw, is it just me, or is there something happening over here regarding inaugural stuff? i can't quite figure it out, but there's definitely something happening. will see if i can find out more and report back.) is all about filling in the gaps. every now and again, i'll accidentally-on-purpose miss a vital bit of information from a post - your task is to find the answer, and provide a link. no points will be awarded for just knowing stuff - you need to find "proof" somewhere on the internet.

clear as mud? jolly good - now get to it!

  1. How's about this one...it's trivial and an image. Tony Hart + Prizes = the blue peter badge (he designed it you know!)

  2. I fear I am the victim of culturism: not having any clue who this Tony Hart guy is surely puts me at a disadvantage.

  3. yay! blue peter badge - i have one of those (somewhere). i did not know that tony hart designed the blue peter badge, so you get 1 point for the picture, and another 2 bonus tony hart points!

brian - i'm tempted to deduct a point for not knowing who tony hart is - tsk, tsk - go on, use your digital fluency skills to find out about him. or possibly just ask someone in the office :)

What a cool T-shirt! This should help you Brain, if you follow some pretty obvious links you can find out more (if you haven't already), and ooh look! there's Morph! Hello Morph! Him and Chas used to make me laugh so much, and still can:

  6. Mornington Crescent

It would be against the rules to explain it.

  7. Helen L. helped me out. She said that Tony Hart was the grandfather everyone loved. So now I'm depressed as I just found out I had a grandfather that I didn't know about. He was apparently everyone else's grandfather too, which makes me feel less special; and apparently he was great fun - which is depressing as I never got to know him. Oh, and apparently he is like a sane Rolf Harris.

  12. try not to be too sad, brian - take heart (pun *totally* intended) in the fact that the kindly old grandfather loved and inspired you even though you were blissfully unaware of his existence. will a spare tony hart point (for finding out) make you less sad? also, 2 points for the uxbridge competition - inaugural made me giggle :)

abbi - 2 points for making me choke on my morning oreo by mentioning and linking to mornington crescent. elephant and castle.

richard - 4 bonus nostalgia points for the t-shirt and morph/chas combo - bless 'em!

smodge - 1 ego-massaging point for mentioning the words "great" and "this blog" together, plus 2 tony hart points for the pasta link. i would *love* to enter a little italy pasta eating competition - seems like my kinda game!

  13. you nutter :)

i'm sure that toe knee would be hugely impressed, so i'm awarding extra bonus points for the totally home made quality (and of course for the terrible punning). 5 points for you in that round!
